The Secrets to Amazing Self Confidence

Lack of confidence not only affects your state of mind but it also affects how others treat you. Self confidence is something that can be missing from early childhood and continue throughout all of adulthood.

Self Confidence- Believing in yourself

Self Confidence- Believing in yourself

When you fail to develop the self confidence you need, it can affect every aspect of your life, e.g. workplace, relationship, and social situations.
However, it’s never too late to improve your confidence and become the person you’ve always wanted to be. This article will discuss the problems associated with a low confidence level and start you on the journey to a better understanding of what steps to take to rebuild your confidence to levels that you never thought possible.

Shyness and fear are typical expressions of a confidence problem. Hiding from interactions with others and avoidance are symptoms which are correctable with time, effort and the knowledge needed to rebuild your self confidence. The tools you need for improving your confidence are with you all the time: your mind and your emotions.

Your mind will begin the process of control while eliminating emotions like shyness and fear will start you on a track that continues on for the rest of your life. Remember, how you see yourself is how others will see you and having confidence will earn the confidence and respect of others.

Often times our own thoughts are to blame for our low self-confidence. Positive thinking needs to win-out over negative thoughts to be able to build and govern your self confidence. In essence, thinking positive will help develop a stronger you. Negative thoughts often lead to negative actions (like overeating, smoking, alcohol, medication and drug abuse) up to possibility of unlawful actions.

Whereas, positive thinking will lead to positive actions which then lead to more positive thinking and more positive actions (like exercise, healthy nutrition looking after yourself). It is a very circular behaviour pattern both negative and positive. With the proper positive mindset, you will exude confidence and success will not be far behind.

Mistakes to secret to Success?

Mistakes to secret to Success?

So often in today’s world we promote the idea of fitting in and being like the rest of the crowd, but we really should be talking about what makes each one of us unique and how important our individual contributions to society are.

Comparing ourselves to others often leads to continued negative thinking and again the cycle continues forever downwards. Emotions like envy can be very destructive and can quickly tear apart years of confidence building only to have to start over.

Developing your self confidence is a continuous life long process. Everyone will have setbacks in their lives but how we react to those setbacks often distinguishes between success and failure. Other powerful techniques that you may work on are learning to use your inner filter, self-criticism and positive self-talk which can take you to the next level of building self confidence.

How to gain self confidence starts with identification and ends with behavioural change and results in a better you. Get started building a better you today!

Decide today to start the journey to the real you with a coaching session.

It is simple and easy – if you know it!

Many people have a problem reaching goals they have in their diet and exercise program simply because they are not knowledgeable about the simple truth about basic nutrition. If you are trying to lose weight you should know that reaching your weight goal is simply a matter of burning more calories than you take in.

You should also be concerned with improvement in your overall health at the same time, which is why having good nutritional skills are so important. Poor nutrition can lead to higher risks for of a variety of health problems including heart disease and cancer. You need to eat a balance of healthy foods and watch your caloric intake at the same time. A proper diet reduces cholesterol, blood pressure, and aids in weight lose.

For optimal body function you must eat the right combination of nutrients. One of the most important of these, contrary to some popular diets, is carbohydrate. They are used to create glucose, which can be used right away or stored to use later. An over abundance of carbohydrates will cause your body to store the extra glucose as fat. Carbohydrates are broken into two categories, simple and complex. Sugars fall into the simple category, while starches and fibres are complex carbohydrates. White bread and pasta reacts like sugar (simple carbohydrate) and can easily end up in fat storage. Whole grain products are complex

carbohydrates. They might have more calories at the label of the package, but not in your body! To digest complex carbs your body needs more energy and it takes much longer to distract the energy out of it, so you are longer satisfied and not hungry.

Protein is another crucial nutrient for your body; they help your body build and repair muscle and other tissues. They also function in the creation of hormones. Do not fall into the trap of eating excessive amounts of protein, as protein reacts acidic in your body. The two main protein sources are animal and vegetable. You need to avoid a high consumption of animal protein because too much of it can cause high cholesterol due to the high levels of saturated fat.

To burn fat your body must also have a certain level of fat intake. Particularly polyunsaturated and rich on Omega 3 and 6.

Omega-3 and omega-6 are types of essential fatty acids – meaning we cannot make them on our own and have to obtain them from our diet. Both are polyunsaturated fatty acids. In modern diets, there are few sources of omega-3 fatty acids, mainly the fat of cold-water fish such as salmon, sardines, herring, mackerel, black cod, and bluefish. There are two critical omega-3 fatty acids that the body needs. Vegetarian sources, such as walnuts and flaxseeds contain a precursor omega-3. They are essential to build hormones that control immune function, blood clotting, and cell growth as well as components of cell membranes.

Food for health and beauty

Vitamins of course are also on the list of required nutrients. All vitamins perform different jobs within the body and work with your body’s metabolism to increase energy levels. Many studies have proven that certain vitamins can also prevent disease such as vitamins A, C, and E, also called antioxidants, which assist with the prevention of coronary artery disease by helping to prevent plaque build up on artery walls.

Your body also needs minerals and trace elements, which are used in many different body processes. Chlorine is essential for digestion; calcium and phosphorus are essential for strong bones and healthy teeth. Your body also needs salt; the best one is Himalayan salt followed by sea salt.
Make sure that you eat food as close to their natural state as possible and avoid excessive amounts of animal protein. Eat at least two cups of fruits and three cups of vegetables daily and drink a gallon of water spread out over your day.

“Evaluating the impact of team coaching”

What are the results for team coaching?

  • Coaching affects each team member, the team, the organization and other teams.
  • Coaching affects processes (how the team and the individuals do things) and outcomes (the results of what they do).

Sample of outcomes:

  • Achieving sales target/ annual bonus higher personal productivity
  • Improving customer satisfaction rating higher team productivity
  • Reduced cost of quality

Coaching produces Outcome grafrealestate

The results of a recent Australian study entitled An Evaluation of Life Coaching Group Program: A Wait-List Control Study (presented at the International Positive Psychology Summit in the US in 2003) reaffirms Dr Grant’s findings. Undertaken by Suzy Green of the University of Wollongong, this study found that “a 10-week life coaching group program increased well-being, hope, and goal-striving in the normal, non-clinical population.”

While the evidence insists that coaching improves unquantifiable factors such as hope and mental attitude, it can also produce tangible benefits.

International property firm, Century 21 Real Estate, concerned with poor sales performance and high attrition rates of new sales staff, implemented a coaching program in 1994. Targeting both behavioral skills (lead generation, basic communication and selling skills) and cognitive skills (dealing with fears, rejection and developing an optimistic outlook), the coach worked with the coachee for a total of 20 one-hour coaching sessions.

Century 21 Real Estate – Coaching Results

An evaluation of the program found considerable benefits in terms of increased property listings, sales and staff satisfaction. The time for a new sales associate to get their first property listing fell to an average of 3.53 weeks, less than half the industry average of 10 weeks.

This translated into a first month’s gross commission of $2,430 compared with an average of $871 for those who did not participate in the coaching program.

In another study, this time investigating the difference between coaching and training, executive coaching increased performance by 88% compared with an increase of 22.4% for training alone (Olivero, Bane, and Kopelman,1997).

An International Coaching Federation poll of 210 clients in 1998 confirmed that 98.5 percent of those surveyed considered hiring a coach worth the investment.

And it looks like coaching is here to stay. The News & World (1997) reported that coaching was second only to management consulting as the hottest consulting field in the United States. In 2000, life coaching was ranked the second fastest growth industry after Information Technology (Sydney Morning Herald, 2000).

Team coaching example

A client described the aim of team coaching with his teams as following:

  • Positive thinking
  • Building moral
  • Harmony at the workplace
  • Promote teamwork

The teambuilding processes we are offering are leading to:

  • Higher workers’ motivation
  • Job satisfaction
  • Improving communication skills

Advantages of higher workers’ motivation and job satisfaction:

  • They are proud to work at ??? and refer business to friends and family.
  • Less sick days, higher workplace commitment.
  • Higher customer satisfaction.
  • Higher work motivation, sharing ideas and the aim to improve business outcomes.

Advantage of improved communication skills

  • Better teamwork
  • Higher customer satisfaction
  • Accessing individual skills and talents in the team
  • Faster problem solving
  • Increased creative ideas to improve business

What we do

Our processes facilitate team members to find creative solutions for existing problems and to find new ideas to uplift business performance.

This enhances communications skills, team moral and positive thinking.

If asked in this settings, it has been found that employees present solutions and ideas to improve business processes that are more cost effective and produce higher outcomes.

Unfortunately this knowledge is not to often utilized.

The most common problem we see is that management implements changes without team involvement with leads to a cascade of negative reactions. These then cost the business time and money until the business is able to work at its best again.

Changes from the inside, implemented from the team are generally more easily accepted and implemented. A cascade of positive reaction follows such as improvement of work performance, employees feeling more connected to the business and regularly creating ideas for improvement.

Investment

The best outcomes are seen in regular team coaching sessions over a period of one year.

Depending on the business and team situation 3-4 hours for 2-3 days once a month, six weekly or every second month would be the appropriate interval.

The Secret of Success

Actually it is not a “Secret” anymore,

but why do only so few

use this simple & powerful success strategy?

topofmontain

A Survey of Success

In 1953, Harvard University famously conducted a detailed survey of its graduating senior class.  The questionnaire that each of the three thousand students filled out specifically asked that participants look deeply at their expectations of life.

In 1973 another questionnaire was completed by each of the two thousand remaining ex-students that were contactable.  In many areas of life the results were quite predictable.  In some, there were a number of surprises; however nothing had prepared the researchers for the shock they received when appraising the respondents’ net worth.

Shock Number One arrived in the form of a 97% to 3% split.  Any one of the 3% (sixty people) selected on their own, had a net worth greater than the other 97% combined.  Put in everyday language, any single one of these sixty people could have bought and sold the other 1940 individuals combined.

Shock Number Two was the realisation that these sixty people did not constitute the ‘cream’ of the graduating class.  Their positions in their various classes at graduation turned out to bear no relation to their successes in life.  It was not the geniuses who had succeeded financially.

Shock Number Three was that the 1953 survey unknowingly predicted this 97% to 3% split.  The students of 1953 had predetermined their own success levels, and the information lay dormant for twenty years.

Before any further consideration of this amazing material, let us consider the following state of affairs in Australia: six of Australia’s ten wealthiest people do not have university educations; three of the remaining four failed university at their first attempts; the last graduated having taken five years to obtain a three year degree and none of the four with degrees actually use it directly in the production of their income.  So, if you think that you aren’t academically inclined, you’re in the right company!

If you could find out a secret that would guarantee your success in everything you attempted, would you treat it like a valuable tool and commit yourself to using it, even if you did not understand how it could possibly work?  If it was the silliest thing you ever heard of, but you knew that it worked well for others over extended periods of time, would you stick with it anyway?

So, What Was the Secret?

What was it that these sixty people had in common in 1953 that brought them enough wealth to live on happily ever after, even if they never worked again?

Happybusinessmenhappybuinesswomen

These people – and most successful people, for that matter – didn’t just think about what they wanted.  Anybody can sit and consider what they would like to have happen in their future, but it takes a brave human being to actually commit it to paper and say to themselves, “this is what I am making a stand for in my life; this is what I want to do”.  Essentially, the difference between a dream and a goal is the written word.

Time and again, sociological experiments have demonstrated that specific, challenging goals result in better performance than vague goals, no goals, or people simply trying to “do their best”.

Putting things down in black and white is the key.  There is a magic that mobilises the brain when we set a goal on paper.  In simple physics (which has nothing to do with the magic) when you write down a goal, it makes its first step into the physical plane.  Before this time, your goal has existed purely in the esoteric thought patterns that rattle around inside your head.  Consequently, writing down your goals is one of the most basic secrets of success, whether you like it or not.

If the secret to success is so simple, is there any reason why you shouldn’t start doing it today?

Finding the You that You Always Wanted to Be

August 6, 2009 by ursula

What is Your Mission?

We all have a mission in life: an inner urge to pursue an activity or perform a service.  And it’s up to all of us to discover what guides us, inspires us, and motivates us to get out of bed every morning.

Some of us are daunted by the word “mission” and immediately think of Mother Theresa,

Mother Theresa

Mahatma Gandhi or Nelson Mandela – people who had grand visions for a better world.  But does you mission have to change the world?  Of course not.  It only has to change YOUR world.  Your mission statement is your written permission to do what is most important to you, most exciting to you, most YOU.

Finding the You that You Always Wanted to Be

Jetty Maguire

As the popular 1996 film Jerry Maguire opens, the protagonist, played by Tom   Cruise, is grappling with a number of issues that make him question the person he has become.  These issues offend his set of values.  Sports agent Maguire goes so far as to say he hates himself – and then corrects himself to say he hates “his place in the world”.

So, he writes his own mission statement. Among the values he refers to are “simple pleasures,” “protecting clients in health and injury,” “caring,” and being “the me I always wanted to be.” Above all, the mission statement inspires him to say: “I’d started my life”.

Jerry Maguire says that the people in his business, including himself, had forgotten what was important.  Writing a personal mission statement offers the opportunity to establish what’s important in our lives – in not just our careers, but our personal lives too.  Stephen Covey,  in The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People,

refers to crafting a mission statement as “connecting with your own unique purpose and the profound satisfaction that comes in fulfilling it.”  A mission statement can help you to become the “you you always wanted to be.”

A personal mission statement based on your vision and values becomes a personal constitution, the basis for making both major, life-directing decisions and those daily decisions that need to be made amid the circumstances and emotions that affect our lives.

Create you Mission statement today!

Self-Esteem

How to improve

Self-Esteem

Self-Esteem

As a person seeking excellence, it is important to have a high self-esteem. In this success coaching module, you will:

- Assess your own self-esteem and identify desired improvements

- Understand how a poor self-esteem develops

- Learn about the “approval by achievement” syndrome and how to prevent it

- Identify your untapped personal potential

- Examine your relationship with fear, change, criticism and judgement

- Focus on your strengths and individuality. Objectives

Self-Esteem, Where To Begin

As a person seeking excellence, it is important to assess both your strengths and the barriers that keep you from achieving the improvements you want in your personal and professional life.

A Never Ending Process

Continuous improvement implies a never-ending process. The changes we will need to make may require breaking down our habits into routines we can assess; then we will be able to combine strategies for change into easily achievable steps.

Self-improvement requires self-mastery. We are masterful when we can accomplish our personal dreams and goals.

To achieve self-mastery we need to develop some personal characteristics.

1. Self Awareness: readiness to look at past or present information about ourselves. 2. Self Knowledge: after examining our past we will have a basis for comparing personal observations with feedback from others. 3. Self Discipline: we need to be able to make our behaviour conform to our personal goals by controlling our thoughts, feelings and actions.

Self perception exercise

In order to gain a sense of perspective, to see where you stand and where you are going, it is helpful to take a step back and review your life as a whole.

What is self esteem?

Self-esteem is a state of mind. It is the way you think and feel about yourself and others; and it is measured by the way you act. Your self-esteem serves as the bridge between who you are and what you do. It can also be defined as your internal belief system and how you experience life externally.

High self-esteem means that you have a positive sense of your inherent worth as a person. Self-esteem is self-confidence, assertiveness, self-worth and self-respect. The key to improving self-esteem is your willingness to take responsibility for your feelings, desires, thoughts, abilities and interests, and to accept your overall strengths.

Your self-esteem affects everything you do. It reflects ‘you’ to everyone you come into contact with. Each of us is born with the capacity for positive feelings, but it is possible to learn not to like yourself through your life experience.

Self-esteem is not fixed. It changes (often daily) depending on what you experience or how you are feeling. Most low self-esteem is caused by negative emotional reactions. Childhood experiences, criticism from adults, peers, your environment, media and society in general can cause feelings of inferiority and low self-esteem. If these feelings are reinforced by negative belief patterns, they will become habit forming and low self-esteem will be the result.

As you become an adult, you depend on others for a sense of importance. Negative feelings and thinking patterns can become so powerful they seem like the truth and your mind can then form value judgements as a result.

Self-esteem is both conscious and unconscious.
It is an ongoing evaluation of yourself, a belief about what you can and cannot do. Self-esteem can be learned, but it does not happen overnight.
